We returned from Peru with responsibilities in addition to caring for our two houses--planning a wedding and our new life together. After some deliberation, we decided to get married on January 1st (1.1.11) and to live in Vince's house and rent out mine. But as we soon found out, those decisions were just the tip of the wedding-planning iceberg, which we've since been tackling in addition to, you guessed it, work on the houses. Don't worry, we found lots of time for other fun too!
June
Vince's parents came into town and, after ooo-ing and awe-ing over our Peru pics, they were gracious enough to help work on Vince's house. The exterior got a face-lift as they dug out dead and unattractive bushes, pesky landscape rocks, and lots of weeds. Vince hand-dug all of the fence post holes, and he and his dad set the fence posts in concrete and put up the pickets. After many successive weekends of work, Vince finally put the finishing touches on his beautiful--and extremely sturdy--gate. The fence was approved by the city, and it now encloses a yard that will hopefully give the dog that we plan on adopting after we're married lots of enjoyment!
Vince's mom was able to cool off for awhile inside by painting the master bathroom and Vince's dad followed suit by painting the pink room a beautiful blue. But the room has not escaped its rouge past--we still call it the pink room!
July
The main event in July was traveling to Colorado Springs to celebrate Vince's grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. Over the long weekend, we played with the younger kids at Santa's Workshop, spelunked through the Cave of the Winds, and hiked at the Garden of the Gods. Lots of time was spent at the hotel pool, and we certainly didn't go hungry: a delicious italian resturant and hand-crafted cake for the main anniversary celebration and a family fiesta at a mexican restaurant for our final night--complete with sombreros.
August
We started August off with Casey's family at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. We took full advantage of the free give-aways before beginning the 5K walk in the humid August weather.
We spent the next weekend at Vince's family farm down in Pretty Prairie, Kansas taking our engagement photos. It was so much fun! Our photographers, Kevin and Ashely, had just gotten married the week before, and are not only a wonderful couple, but amazing photographers too.

We finished the month bypainting one of the spare bedrooms in Casey's house to get ready for a new roommate.
September
After a nice relaxing, Labor Day at the lake, work picked up substantially for Vince. He often got to work earlier and worked later to accomplish what he needed to.
Casey kept busy with starting her SCUBA diving open-water certification so that she could join Vince, who's already open-water certified, in diving on the honeymoon in Hawaii. Casey also started horse-back riding again and has changed disciplines to the challenging--yet fun--saddleseat riding.
Thorughout the entire summer, we filled in whatever free time we had with Starlight productions, riding Vince's motorcycle, attending wedding receptions, playing sand volleyball, and honeymoon and wedding planning. We made sure to reserve time each Sunday for our dinner and movie date nights--the best way to unwind before starting another week!
