Casey's main resolution: get rid of the tile countertops in the kitchen. The unsightliness of them was only matched by their uncleanliness--crumbs got into the grout lines, set up camp, and refused to come out. Vince got his crowbar out and obliterated the old, nasty countertops to make way for the new granite ones.
The installation went rather smoothly, but the timing could have been better as Casey was tackling both her toughest case at work and studying for the Missouri bar at the same time. Neither task was impeded by the renovation. There was one small mishap, however. Before the new countertops were in place, one of Casey's cats, Pete, attempted to jump up on the counter, only to land dazed and confused in the underlying cabinet. Don't worry, he wasn't harmed.
Vince put his handy-man skills to use again by installing the new faucet, reattaching the drains and garbage disposal, and helping grout the gap between the countertop and backsplash. It was quite a transformation:

We also managed to get away to Colorado over the extended Valentine's/President's day weekend. Vince put his snowboard to good use while Casey stayed with the known by skiing.
